Our Review

BMO U.S. Dollar Mastercard

The BMO U.S. Dollar Mastercard offers cardholders the ability to make purchases in U.S. Dollars without a foreign currency exchange fee. This card is aimed at those who frequently travel to the U.S. and make purchases there. It comes at an annual fee of $35 and offers no rewards program or insurance coverage, but it does offer 24-hour, out-of-country emergency assistance with GlobalAssist. The card does offer the option for an annual fee waiver if you charge a minimum 1,000 USD to the card annually, which is a decently low threshold to meet. This card is pretty redundant unless you frequently make purchases in the U.S., preferably at a total of $1,000 or more.

As per our rating system, this card scored 0/25 on rewards, 16/25 on interest rates and balance transfers, 7/25 on perks and insurance, and 22/25 on annual fees. Therefore, the total smart score of this card is 45/100.
