Our Review

RBC Rewards Visa Card

The RBC Rewards Visa Card allows its holders to earn points on all their day-to-day purchases, to be redeemed for almost anything. For no annual fee, holders can earn 1 point per dollar spent on gas, groceries and drugstore purchases, and 1 point per $2 on all other purchases, as well as a welcome bonus of 2,500 points. Other perks include a discount of 1,000 points on RBC’s most popular $25 gift card, purchase protection, extended warranty, and an introductory interest rate on balance transfers and cash advances of 1.9% for the first 10 months. The card does not include additional insurance, and the rate of earning points is modest, so this card definitely won’t change your life, but it’s a simple way to get some rewards out of your credit card purchases, and perhaps reduce your credit card debt if you take advantage of the introductory interest rate on balance transfers and cash advances.

As per our rating system, this card scored 17/25 on rewards, 18/25 on interest rates and balance transfers, 8/25 on perks and insurance, and 25/25 on annual fees. Therefore, the total smart score of this card is 68/100.
